The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has issued a request to well-wishers, urging them to refrain from displaying congratulatory billboards in his honor. The Director of Press at the Minister’s Office, Anthony Ogunleye, conveyed this message in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday.

“In light of his appointment as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike has taken note of lamp post billboards, extensive billboards, and other advertisements expressing congratulations to him.

“While the minister deeply values the warm sentiments and support of the people, he strongly requests that such billboards and ads be discontinued without further delay.

“He appreciates the immense goodwill he has received from both the residents of the FCT and beyond. He recognizes the emotions behind these congratulatory displays and is genuinely moved by the display of solidarity.

“However, in the spirit of public service and his commitment to his duties, the minister aims to focus his complete attention on aiding President Bola Tinubu in realizing his vision and renewed hope for Nigeria,” the statement read.

Ogunleye pointed out that Wike’s primary responsibility lies in contributing to the development and progress of the FCT, ensuring the welfare of residents, and advancing the interests of the nation.

The director emphasized that the minister holds the aspirations and expectations of FCT residents in high esteem. He reiterated Wike’s dedication to fulfilling his responsibilities with the utmost sincerity and devotion.

According to Ogunleye, this objective can be achieved by wholeheartedly concentrating on ongoing tasks and collaborating with fellow public servants to serve the country to the best of their abilities.

“Wike genuinely hopes that the public comprehends his viewpoint and continues to offer their support and collaboration. He anticipates working in partnership with all stakeholders to establish a more resilient, prosperous, and united Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria as a whole,” the director concluded.
