Dele Alake clarified the rationale behind his appointment as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development on Monday.

There had been rumors suggesting that Alake might be assigned to the Ministry of Information and Communication.

However, contrary to these speculations, Alake was officially sworn in as the Minister of Solid Minerals Development on Monday.

Speaking to reporters after the inauguration of the forty-five new ministers, Alake explained that President Tinubu chose him for the portfolio due to the sector’s crucial role in economic revitalization.

In contrast to the prevailing notion that a specific portfolio was earmarked for him, Alake asserted that he actively requested the President to assign him to the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.

He remarked, “I’ve been aware of this matter since the beginning of this administration when I was appointed as Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy.”

“The Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, as you know, holds significant importance during this period of economic renewal,” he continued. “The administration is committed to revitalizing the sector and breathing new life into it.”

Alake emphasized that he personally expressed his interest in heading this ministry to the President, and President Tinubu granted his request.

He added, “The ministry plays a pivotal role in the administration, and the President wanted someone he could trust and believe would deliver effective results.”
