Volleyball: CNS Spikers, Olalomi win Nat Div 1 League

The Chief of Naval Staff Spikers and Olalomi Royal Spikers have been crowned champions of the 2023 National Division 1 Volleyball League in the men’s and women’s categories.

CNS Spikers secured a perfect record in the men’s competition by defeating Nigeria Correctional Service with a score of 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-17) in the final match. They finished in first place with a total of 24 points. Nigeria Correctional Service claimed the second position with a total of 18 points, while Kwara United surprisingly took the third position with a cumulative score of 7 points. UCEM from Enugu tied for fourth place with a total of 7 points, and G-Ranks Spikers settled in fifth place with a total of 4 points in the men’s National Division 1 League.

In the women’s Division 1 League, Olalomi Royal Spikers secured the top spot with 8 points after defeating Nigeria Air Force Rocket with a score of 3-2 (19-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-13) in the final match. Nigeria Air Force Rocket claimed the second position with a total of 3 points.

As a result of their victories, CNS Spikers, Nigeria Correctional Service, and Olalomi Royal Spikers have earned promotion to next year’s Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

In the 2023 National Division 2 League, Life Camp VC emerged as the winners and have secured promotion to next year’s National Division 1 League. They maintained an undefeated record in the second phase of the league, finishing first with 48 points. Sword VC of Makurdi secured the second position with 41 points, while Nigeria Air Force (NAF) Rockets finished in third place with 32 points. Oluyole Spikers of Oyo state claimed the fourth position with 32 points, Safety Spikers took fifth place with 22 points, Adamawa Spikers secured the sixth position with 20 points, and Ajase Ipo and Olalomi Royal Spikers settled for the seventh and eighth positions with 14 and 8 points, respectively.
