Charly Boy, also known as Charles Oputa, has responded to the controversy surrounding Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, a candidate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) who admitted to inflating her score using her phone.
Charly Boy’s reaction comes after Nkechiyere Umeh was announced as the candidate with the highest score of 360, while Mmesoma claimed to have scored 362. However, a committee established by the Anambra state government to investigate Mmesoma’s claims reported that she confessed to manipulating her results.
Taking to his Twitter handle on Sunday, Charly Boy acknowledged that Mmesoma had successfully fooled many people, including himself. He noted the fluency and innocence with which she defended herself. However, he stated that Mmesoma had learned forgery from political leaders.
Charly Boy emphasized the need to exercise caution in not hastily destroying Mmesoma, as she is still a bright girl who requires counseling from her parents. He further pointed out that everyone makes mistakes and asked who among us has never messed up.
He also commented that Mmesoma might have learned forgery from political leaders who believe in its efficacy, as well as those who have been unable to produce their own WAEC results. Charly Boy hinted at the manipulation of Nigeria’s electoral process by INEC (Independent National Electoral Commission) while mentioning Mmesoma’s presence in the country during that time. In summary, Charly Boy expressed surprise at Mmesoma’s actions, urged caution in handling the situation, and drew attention to the potential influences that may have contributed to her actions.
