“Toke Makinwa advises women not to ask for things from men that are beyond their means.”

Nollywood actress and media personality Toke Makinwa has recently shared valuable advice for women in relationships, urging them to reconsider making extravagant requests from their male partners. Speaking on the latest episode of her podcast, TokeMoments, she stressed the importance of not burdening partners with demands that surpass one’s own financial capacity.

Toke Makinwa specifically highlighted that it is unjust for women to ask their partners for things they cannot afford independently. She cautioned against putting undue pressure on men to fulfill extravagant desires. In her explanation, she offered a vivid example: “If you live in a place like Mushin and insist that your partner buys you a house in Banana Island, it simply doesn’t make sense. Can you realistically afford it? Are you capable of making the move to improve your situation independently?”

Makinwa emphasized that in a healthy relationship, it’s reasonable for a partner to contribute and support each other in achieving shared goals. She urged women not to make unreasonable demands, as doing so can lead to conflicts and diminish respect within the relationship. She also highlighted that such excessive demands from women can contribute to the negative image of women in the eyes of men.
