‘This community will miss him’ – Ikorodu youths rally to protest Mohbad’s death

The singer passed away on September 12 at the age of 27, and this incident has sparked controversy. In response, the Lagos State Police Command has established a 19-member special investigation team to look into the matter.

Young people, holding placards with pictures of Mohbad and chanting slogans like “We demand justice for MohBad,” took to the streets. They called for a thorough investigation to uncover any foul play and ensure justice regarding the incident.

A correspondent from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) visited the residence of the popular musician in Ikorodu at Okeletu. The youths marched from that area towards Ijede Road.

Kazeem Ayinde, one of the youths, explained that the rally was organized to pay their final respects to the late musician. He also mentioned that there would be a candlelight event for the deceased later in the day, as it had been a week since his passing.

During the visit, Felicia Adedara, the grandmother of the deceased, mentioned that they wouldn’t discuss any matter related to the death until the investigation was completed. She revealed that Mobhad’s father had gone to the police to assist in their investigation.

She said, “I am the only woman left as the mother of the dad, I came in from Ekiti immediately I heard about the incident. Right now, we have been instructed by the police not to talk to anybody until they complete their investigation.”

NAN reported that sympathizers at the residence praised the Nigeria Police for their prompt intervention and urged them to swiftly uncover the circumstances surrounding the death.

One of the sympathizers who chose to remain anonymous stated, “We will all miss Mohbad in this community; just recently, he distributed palliatives to residents of this community. Some of us who were not around during that time went to his dad, and he gave us our packages. We are calling on the police to uncover those responsible for his death because everybody in this community loved him for his generosity.”
