AThe administrators of the 20 clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) are eagerly anticipating the start of the 2023/24 season. They are dismissing any notions that they are responsible for the postponement of the season’s commencement.

Godwin Enakhena, the General Secretary of the club owners, clarified that the decision to shift the kick-off date from August 26 to September 9 was conveyed to the association by the NPFL board.

The NPFL board, headed by Gbenga Elegbeleye, recently announced a two-week delay, citing the necessity to set up, test, and train personnel for the newly acquired AI cameras. These cameras will be used to stream the league on a digital platform in the upcoming season.

Consequently, the board has also rescheduled the draws for the new season from Thursday, August 24 (today) to Tuesday, August 29.
