Stop Governor Uzodinma’s ‘Plan To Take Land In Imo Communities For Fulani Settlement,’ IPOB Warns Igbo People

  • Post category:Insecurity

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged the Igbo people to prevent Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State from jeopardizing the security and wellbeing of the entire Igbo land due to his alleged selfish political interests and desperate ambition for a second term. In a statement released on Sunday, IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, accused Governor Uzodinma of seizing portions of Orji and Amata communities in Owerri to establish settlements, commonly known as RUGA, for Fulani people.

According to IPOB, any attempt to forcefully take over the ancestral land of Orji community for RUGA will be strongly resisted. The organization claimed to have received information that the state government had taken control of parts of Orji and Amata communities under the guise of establishing an industrial estate, but in reality, it was for Fulani terrorists posing as herdsmen.

IPOB emphatically stated that no part of Alaigbo (Igbo land) would be handed over to Fulani invaders, who have already encroached upon Hausa lands and caused harm to the Middle Belt people. The organization vowed to resist any fraudulent land grabs or attempts at conquest in Biafra Land.

IPOB called upon the residents of the affected communities, both within and outside the region, to stand up and oppose Governor Uzodinma and his commissioner, who allegedly face pressure to surrender their community land for a fake industrial estate or be prepared to fight future battles against the terrorists. The statement also asserted that Governor Uzodinma’s use of force to seize community lands for his Fulani political allies would not succeed.

In conclusion, IPOB declared that any Fulani groups attempting to take over Orji community land through Governor Uzodinma’s government have failed. The organization warned them to retract any financial agreements made with the government and stated that Hope Uzodinma’s attempts to appease Fulani interests in the Eastern region by mortgaging Imo State for his personal political gain were futile. IPOB made it clear that it would not permit any RUGA settlements in the Eastern Region.
