Renowned singer, Divine Ikubor, known by his stage name Rema, has surpassed the 41-year-old record held by legendary musician King Sunny Ade, making him the Nigerian artist with the lengthiest-running album in the history of the US Billboard 200 chart.
King Sunny Ade had established this record in 1982 with his highly acclaimed album “Juju Music,” a remarkable 18 years before Rema’s birth. This achievement was marked by the album’s 29-week presence on the Billboard 200 chart, marking it as the lengthiest-running Nigerian project on the chart at the time.
However, Rema’s debut album ‘Rave & Roses’ has recently broken this record by maintaining a spot on the chart for its 30th consecutive week. The Billboard 200 chart ranks albums’ popularity in the United States based on various metrics of consumption.
