Owodunni Ibrahim, known as Primeboy, has addressed his status as a person of interest in the police investigation into the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad. He has emphasized that he was not present with Mohbad on the day of his passing.
In a brief interview with TVC on October 5, 2023, Primeboy refuted the Lagos State Police Command’s claim that he was uncooperative, stating that he was never formally invited for questioning. He asserted that he would have willingly cooperated if he had received any such invitations. Instead, he discovered he was wanted online without prior notice.
Primeboy explained that he had been waiting for the police to invite him but had received no communication from them, leading him to decide to turn himself in. He stated, “The police never invited me, which is untrue, because I would have responded to their call. Before the ‘wanted’ status emerged, I had intended to visit the station to clarify my position due to false accusations. However, the individuals I contacted advised me to wait for an official invitation, so I patiently waited. Suddenly, I found myself being sought online, with a one million naira reward for my location.”
Primeboy was declared wanted by the police on October 5, 2023, due to his alleged failure to respond to multiple invitations related to the death of Mohbad. In light of the mysterious circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s passing, the police initiated an investigation. Naira Marley and Sam Larry, his associate, have already returned to the country for questioning as the investigation progresses.
