Gombe police killed one armed robber, arrested three, and recovered four stolen cows.
The police also recovered a locally made pistol with two live cartridges.
The police received a distress call on June 24, 2023, that a gang of armed robbers had invaded the residence of Alhaji Gidado Muhammad Sani in Arawa Quarters, Gombe. The robbers shot sporadically and robbed the occupants of their valuables. They also injured the security guard, Mohd Abdullahi.
The police responded to the distress call and engaged the robbers in a gun duel. One of the robbers, Alias Albaru, was killed. Three other robbers, Adamu Usman, Mustapha Abdullahi, and Abdullahi Hussaini, were arrested. Six other robbers escaped with bullet wounds.
Part of the exhibits robbed from the victims were recovered. The police are still searching for the six fleeing suspects.
In a separate incident, the police arrested two men for stealing two bulls from Jibrin’s compound in Gidim village. The bulls were traced to an uncompleted building in Nassarawo quarters. The police also recovered a locally made pistol with two live cartridges from the building.
