Two individuals in Kano who reported a suspected female drug trafficker to the police have been apprehended for their involvement in the cocaine trafficking scheme to Saudi Arabia.

According to SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, an investigation revealed that the two men were complicit in a courier arrangement where their wives were tasked with delivering a quantity of cocaine to a woman at a Saudi Arabian airport.

In a statement issued on Friday in Kano, it was disclosed that Auwal Ishaq of Kawo Quarters and Idris Sani Suleiman of Medile Quarters jointly reported the female suspect, Hajiya Sharifat Abdullahi of Kuregen Sani Hotoro, to the police.

Allegedly, Hajiya Abdullahi contacted Ishaq and Suleiman to have their wives travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, but the women were actually intended to transport a substance suspected to be cocaine.

The women embarked on the trip but lost contact with their husbands, who subsequently filed complaints with the police. The investigation led to the arrest of the main suspect, Abdullahi, who confessed that Ishaq and Suleiman were also involved and aware of their wives’ roles as drug couriers.

Abdullahi revealed that the women were meant to deliver the substance to a certain individual waiting at a Saudi Arabian airport. The wives were promised monetary compensation upon their return.

Both Ishaq and Suleiman were arrested and accused of being part of a human and drug trafficking cartel. The case has been transferred to the state office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation.
