“In the Niger Delta region, traditional leaders and representatives from oil-producing communities have issued a caution that if the Federal Government were to cease its support for the protection of oil pipelines, thousands of young individuals in the Niger Delta could lose their legitimate means of livelihood.
These community leaders conveyed this message to the media during a series of weeklong stakeholder meetings held in Warri, Ugheli, and two other Niger Delta communities. They expressed their willingness to collaborate with President Bola Tinubu in achieving his vision of economic transformation while ensuring a stable environment for oil production in the Niger Delta.
Representing several communities in the region, a monarch emphasized that the Pipeline Infrastructure (Ocean Marine Solutions) has instilled hope in the people of the Niger Delta. He highlighted one of the group’s most notable achievements, which is the significant reduction of oil pollution throughout the entire Niger Delta by cooperating with security agencies to uncover and halt illegal oil refineries and other unlawful activities harming the Niger-Delta ecosystem.
A group of Niger Delta Professionals who attended the meetings underscored the region’s critical role in maintaining a stable economy, a necessity for ensuring uninterrupted oil production and the successful completion of refinery projects. Dr. Ebiri Edema, speaking on their behalf, expressed their admiration for the government’s economic transformation plan and stressed the importance of stable oil production in realizing the set objectives.”
