Phyna revealed that she had undergone auditions for ‘Big Brother Naija’ on five occasions before finally being selected.

Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija season seven, shared that she had auditioned for the show five consecutive times before finally being selected on her fifth attempt. This revelation came during her appearance on an episode of the MTV Base Sparks show, where she was joined by Whitemoney, the winner of BBNaija season six.

During their conversation about the show and winning strategies, Whitemoney mentioned that some of Phyna’s tactics seemed to have been inspired by him. He jokingly remarked, “I heard that you kind of used my script in the Big Brother House. There is a certain aspect of me that you inherited and used to spice up your own game. And it worked for you.”

In response, Phyna acknowledged her auditioning journey and the years of persistence she had put in, stating, “This is the P Yeah, I’ve been auditioning for Big Brother for about five years. So four years before the fifth last year.” She also clarified that she was not aware of the behavioral similarities between her and Whitemoney until she entered the Big Brother house and was accused of copying him when she used the slang ‘Who dey…’

Phyna further revealed that whenever she wasn’t selected, she purposely avoided watching the reality show out of jealousy. She explained that she did not want to know anything about it during the years she was rejected.

Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, finally succeeded in her fifth audition in 2022 and went on to win the competition after 90 days. It appears that the saying, “good things come to those who wait,” held true for her.
