PDP Told me to Accept President Tinubu’s Ministerial Appointment – FCT Minster, Wike

  • Post category:Politics

Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, has declared that he was given permission by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration led by Bola Tinubu to accept the ministerial position.

Wike affirmed that he had informed the PDP about his decision to accept the role and criticized the party’s leaders, referring to them as “reggae dancers” for threatening to reprimand him.

The ex-governor also revealed that Tinubu had written to all 36 state governors, including those from the PDP, asking for suggestions for ministerial nominees. According to Wike, these PDP governors provided the president with a list of 10 candidates each.

During his inaugural press briefing as a federal minister in Abuja on Monday, Wike questioned if anyone could name his enemies. He addressed the issue of false propaganda and clarified his stance.

“People spread false information. Let me take this opportunity to clarify that I have no qualms with individuals who don’t speak the truth. They said they were going to take action against me for accepting the appointment, but there is no such clause,” Wike stated.

He continued, “The president reached out to the 36 state governors to propose names for appointments. Did PDP governors not submit names? Every PDP governor sent a letter nominating ten individuals to be considered for appointments by this government.”

Wike emphasized that his situation was singled out for discussion. He explained, “But the focus is on Wike. Prior to receiving this appointment, I had written to the national chairman, minority leaders in the House of Representatives and Senate, the zonal chairman of the party, and my state chairman. They all replied and advised me to accept.”

He concluded, “I have documented evidence to support my claims. Ignore these ‘reggae dancers.’ I call them reggae dancers because once an opportunity is lost due to arrogance and impunity, it’s gone.”
