Ogunlewe asserts that Wike’s nomination is seen as a form of “compensation” for his role in Tinubu’s victory.

Former Works Minister Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe stated on the Channels Television Sunday Politics programme that Nyesom Wike’s ministerial nomination is seen as “compensation” for his significant role in President Bola Tinubu’s electoral victory, despite Wike being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Wike actively contributed to Tinubu’s success by dismantling the PDP’s structure to support him. Tinubu promptly submitted his ministerial list to the Senate, including Wike’s name even before he officially left the PDP. Ogunlewe argues that Wike and other politicians deserve recognition for their efforts in ensuring Tinubu’s victory and emphasizes the need for their experience at the national level. He urges the nominees to remain loyal to the party and anticipates a smooth screening process in the National Assembly.
