My dream is to play for Super Eagles, says new Israeli club signee

Eugene Ebere, a young Nigerian footballer who recently joined the under-19 youth team of the Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Netanya, has shared his ultimate ambition of representing both the Flying Eagles and the Super Eagles on the international stage.

Eugene, originally from Ezimba Ezelu Okwe in the Onuimo local government area of Imo State, previously served as the captain of the Abuja-based football academy, Derby FC. During his time there, he achieved numerous accolades, including multiple “Most Valuable Player” awards.

In the 2022 season of the Abuja Elite League, Eugene played in 31 matches for his local team, where he netted an impressive total of 32 goals.

Speaking to a correspondent in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Eugene expressed his enthusiasm for his new club in Israel and revealed that he has already participated in three matches for them.

He stated, “My aspiration as a footballer is to represent Israel’s senior team and to also wear the Nigerian national team jerseys at the youth and senior levels. My immediate goal is to perform exceptionally well for the Under 18 team, which will hopefully pave the way for me to join Maccabi Netanya’s senior squad. Ultimately, my lifelong dream is to become a prominent football star and proudly represent Nigeria in both the Flying Eagles and the Super Eagles.”
