“Renowned human rights lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, revealed that Omowunmi, the widow of the late musician Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, sought his assistance in seeking justice for her deceased husband. Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, with his burial occurring the following day.
In response to the calls for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death, Falana met with the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State, Idowu Owohunwa, who assured him that an investigation was underway. Falana commended Nigerian youths for their peaceful protests demanding justice and pledged his commitment to working with the coroner to uncover those responsible for Mohbad’s suspicious death.
Furthermore, the Ekiti House of Assembly, during deliberations on a motion presented by Babatunde Oke, the representative of Ikere Constituency I, called for a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s demise. Oke emphasized the importance of unraveling the details surrounding the musician’s untimely death, a sentiment echoed by other lawmakers.
Kabiru Shotobi, a community leader in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where Mohbad was buried, recounted how there was an attempt to bury the musician at night on the day of his death. Shotobi refused to permit the nighttime burial and shared these events in a viral video.
Additionally, Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, a former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 election, urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation into Mohbad’s death. He expressed concerns about the influence of cult leaders and drug lords in the music and entertainment industry, calling for justice to be served.
