“He quoted the saying, ‘Let he who is without sin be the first to cast the stone,’ Joshua, son of the founder of Mount Zion Drama Ministry, Mike Bamiloye, urged men to refrain from judging women who watch Big Brother Naija, particularly if they themselves are passionate football fans.
Taking to his Twitter account, the preacher’s son shared a friendly reminder to men who criticize female Big Brother Naija fans while being avid followers of football. He advised them, saying, ‘Before you criticize Christians watching BB, make sure you’re not a football addict. Before you judge ladies who know everything about their favorite characters, make sure you’re not the same with all the football players.’
In a series of tweets, he provided food for thought for football fans, highlighting that they are not so different from dedicated fans of the reality show. He remarked, ‘Before you criticize them for replacing devotion time with the show, ensure you haven’t skipped a fellowship over a hot match, or checked live scores during a church service.’
Towards the end of his tweets, he referred to Big Brother Naija as ‘unproductive’ and drew a parallel between the two forms of entertainment, emphasizing that both compete with God for the hearts of the youth. He expressed, ‘The fact remains that whatever competes with God in your heart is on the same boat. While we acknowledge that the show contains immoral scenes and lacks productivity (like over 80% of entertainment content today), let’s encourage building our walk with God and placing Him as our top priority. This will reflect in how wisely we handle such content.’
While some men in the comment section responded lightly, finding humor in his words, a majority felt called out by the minister and expressed feeling insulted by the comparison between the two. Others defended their passion for the sport, asserting that football is on a different level of entertainment compared to the reality show.”
