There’s no pain like losing a loved one.
During a recent interview on the Just Chude podcast, Mercy Eke, also known as Mercy Lambo by her fans, candidly discussed the pain of losing her father. She revealed that her father passed away in April 2023 after battling an illness. At first, she couldn’t believe the news and thought it might be an April fool’s joke.
Mercy shared that during her childhood, she was closer to her mother than her father. However, his illness brought them closer together, especially around the time she emerged as the winner of Big Brother Naija in October 2019. Sadly, she expressed regret that they didn’t have a stronger bond until it was too late. She wished she could have shown him her success and accomplishments, but his illness prevented him from fully enjoying those moments.
When Mercy won the Big Brother Naija finale, her father’s health prevented him from being present, and her uncle represented her on that special occasion. She mentioned the lack of privacy her family received from bloggers during their time of loss, and she felt that the media didn’t respect her situation, even on the day of the burial.
Despite her loss, Mercy has now returned to the Big Brother Naija house as a contestant in the All Star edition.
