The individuals who kidnapped a policeman and two civilians, a woman and a man, on Tuesday along the Naka-Makurdi road in Benue State, have demanded a ransom of N1.7 million. The victims were reportedly ambushed and abducted at around 4 pm at Ahume on the Naka-Makurdi Road while returning from a burial ceremony.

After establishing contact with the families of the victims, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N1.7 million for their release. Andrew Ayande, the Chairman of Gwer West Local Government Area, confirmed the incident and expressed his concern over the area’s notoriety for criminal activities. He explained that the abduction occurred while the victims were traveling in a vehicle that has now been taken to the Naka police station.

Ayande further revealed that the kidnappers demanded N200,000 from the policeman’s family, N1 million from the woman, and N500,000 from the other victim. However, Catherine Anene, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, stated that she had not yet received the report of the incident.
