Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has decided to suspend the Nigeria Air project, concession initiatives, and other contracts. He explained that he feels an obligation to provide an honest evaluation to the government and the Nigerian people.
Furthermore, Keyamo announced the temporary closure of Muritala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA) for comprehensive maintenance work starting on October 1, 2023. He instructed all international airlines to vacate MMIA by that date. The minister conveyed these decisions during an airport tour in Lagos, accompanied by Kabir Yusuf Mohammed, the Managing Director of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). Additionally, Keyamo suspended all contracts, projects, and concessions in the aviation sector until further notice.
