Joke Silva, a veteran Nollywood actress, has opened up about how her husband’s dementia has affected their marriage.
Silva said that her husband, Olu Jacobs, is no longer the man he used to be. He often forgets things and is not able to take care of himself. This has been difficult for Silva, who has been married to Jacobs for over 30 years.
“The person you married 80 percent of the time is no longer there,” she said.
Silva said that she has cried a lot since Jacobs was diagnosed with dementia. She has also had to adjust to taking care of him, which she sees as “looking after my father.”
However, Silva said that she still loves her husband and will continue to care for him. She said that their love for each other still knows no bounds.
The actress is the embodiment of the marital vows ‘in sickness and in health’.
