JAMB is preparing to take legal action against a student who falsely claimed the highest UTME score.

On Sunday, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) made an announcement stating their intention to cancel the results of an individual named Ejikeme Mmesoma and pursue legal action against her. This action was prompted by her admission of artificially inflating her score in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

According to a statement by the board, Innoson Motors offered Ejikeme a scholarship worth N3 million based on her fraudulently increased score. Furthermore, before her deception was uncovered, Ejikeme was also scheduled to receive an award from the Anambra State government.

The board expressed concern about numerous publications in various media, both print and online, that celebrated certain candidates as high scorers in the 2023 UTME. The board clarified that many of these candidates’ results were actually fake. In some cases, these candidates had obtained much lower scores than they claimed and had manipulated their results using software to deceive the unsuspecting public.

The statement highlighted the case of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma, who falsely claimed a score of 362 in the UTME and received a N3 million scholarship from Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma. The Anambra State Government was also set to honor her, but the board later revealed that her actual score was 249, not 362 as she had deceitfully stated. Miss Ejikeme had manipulated her UTME result to fraudulently obtain scholarships and recognition.

The board advised the public to verify such claims by candidates with the board before rushing to honor them with undeserved awards. They warned that certain software packages have been created to produce fake results and deceive well-meaning individuals who want to support academic excellence, like Dr. Innocent, the founder of Innoson Motors.

The board commended individuals like Dr. Innocent Chukwuma and encouraged others who wish to invest in the future of genuine students not to be discouraged. It emphasized the importance of obtaining authentic results from the board, as the fraudulent results manipulated by these candidates only exist in their possession. The authentic results are securely held by the board and will be transmitted to the candidates’ chosen schools at the appropriate time.

The statement revealed that Miss Mmesoma had initially requested her UTME result from the board’s platform and then manually inflated her scores, falsely pasting them on the 2022 UTME result sheet. However, the board had changed the design of the result sheet for 2023. Her original result remained 249, as no alteration could change that fact.

As a consequence of her reprehensible act, Miss Mmesoma will face prosecution, and her original result will be invalidated. Additionally, the board stated its intention to investigate other candidates who claim higher scores than they actually obtained. If discovered, these candidates will have their original results withdrawn and will be handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for prosecution.

In summary, the board announced the cancellation of Ejikeme Mmesoma’s results and their intent to press charges against her for her actions.
