Iyabo Ojo leads protest to Lagos House of Assembly over Mohbad’s death

Ojo, who led the protest, addressed lawmakers at the Assembly complex on Wednesday, explaining that their group was advocating for justice in the case of Mohbad.

To provide context, it’s worth noting that Mohbad, a former singer signed to Marlian Records, tragically passed away on September 12. His untimely death led to calls for a comprehensive investigation and inquiry into the circumstances surrounding it.

During the protest, demonstrators carried various placards with messages such as “Justice for Mohbad,” “Who killed Mohbad?” “No more Marlian,” and “Too young to go at 27,” among others.

Ojo stated that it was widely known that Nigerians were demanding justice regarding the mysterious death of the popular singer. She acknowledged that the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State had initiated an investigation into the unclear circumstances surrounding his death.

She said, “Even though we know the Commissioner of Police in Lagos State has started an investigation into the cause of the mysterious death, we seek justice.”

In response, the Deputy Majority Leader, Adedamola Kasunmu, expressed gratitude to the protesters for conducting themselves peacefully at the House of Assembly.

Kasunmu assured them that their plea would be presented before the House. He also mentioned that during a recent plenary session, the House discussed issues such as the case of Master Adebola Bright, a boy with missing intestines, and the unfortunate news that he had passed away. Additionally, they addressed the death of Mohbad. Kasunmu emphasized that they would allow the legal process to unfold, relying on the results of the police chief’s investigation.

Several other members of the House, including Sylvester Ogunkelu, Ajani Owolabi, and Rasheed Shabi, were present to receive the protesters.
