“Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has made it clear that he will not engage in negotiations with bandits but will instead support security agencies in their efforts to eradicate banditry and other forms of criminal activity, stated the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mannir Mu’azu Haidara, on Saturday.

He also acknowledged that years of bad governance had left the state lagging behind. He revealed that the governor had initiated a comprehensive roadmap aimed at leading the state out of the grip of long-standing banditry and addressing the years of governmental neglect.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Haidara explained that Governor Lawal’s top priorities include the revitalization of communities that have suffered from years of insecurity and undertaking urban and rural development projects to expedite the state’s recovery.”

The Commissioner said that Governor Lawal would remain firm in his position of not negotiating with bandits but would rather support all the security agencies in the fight against crime.

“For Governor Lawal, there is no going back on never negotiating with bandits and putting all commitment to making sure that people of Zamfara state live without the fear of being attacked.

“The top priority of Governor Dauda Lawal is making Zamfara state secure and free from years of insecurity,” Haidara said.

Speaking on governance, the Commissioner said that the present administration under the leadership of Governor Lawal is currently restoring sanity.

“He highlighted that the governor’s first action was to ensure the settlement of three months’ worth of unpaid salaries left behind by the previous administration, alongside addressing other outstanding worker entitlements.

“At present, several urban development projects are underway, and more projects are scheduled for both urban and rural areas,” he stated.

Regarding education, Haidara emphasized that there is a plan in motion to enhance the quality of education at all levels and upgrade the learning environment to a more suitable standard.

“Zamfara has been held back for many years due to poor governance. Now, Governor Dauda Lawal has taken on the formidable task of rejuvenating Zamfara, aligning it with progress and development. This is a substantial undertaking that will require significant resources. However, Governor Dauda Lawal possesses the determination and strong backing of the people of Zamfara state to achieve this,” the Commissioner added.

Haidara also appealed to the media and other stakeholders to support Governor Lawal’s administration, which he said is dedicated to rescuing Zamfara State and its residents.”
