Impressive D’Tigers beat Serbia 81-53 in China

According to PUNCH Sports Extra, D’Tigers are maintaining their impressive performance in the ongoing friendly tournament in China, securing a convincing victory over the highly-regarded Serbia.

The senior men’s basketball team achieved an 81-53 win against the FIBA world’s sixth-ranked team, continuing their remarkable run in the tournament. This success follows their previous impressive 75-70 victory over Team USA in their first match in China.

D’Tigers departed Nigeria for China last Monday as part of a playing tour that started last week and is scheduled to conclude on October 20.

Although the team didn’t secure a spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics during the qualifiers in Lagos last August, they are currently engaged in one of the developmental programs initiated by the Nigeria Basketball Federation, under the leadership of Musa Ahmadu-Kida.

The China Autumn Tour is an all-expenses-paid tournament organized in China, serving as a morale booster for players from both local and international leagues. This tour comes after the self-imposed ban on Nigerian basketball by the Federal Government last year, which was instated in May 2022. The ban was a response to lingering leadership disputes within the Nigeria Basketball Federation and player demands for improved welfare packages and treatment.
