The Acting Inspector-General of Police has condemned the actions of a police team that ran over a citizen in Ekpoma, Edo State.
The incident was captured on video and shows the victim’s hands and legs tied as he was made to lie on the floor. Residents of the area were engaging the officers when the officer who was driving the bus moved and ran over the victim. He stopped driving after the residents repeatedly yelled that the victim was under the car.
The Acting Inspector-General of Police has directed the erring policemen to report to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Monday, July 3, for further action. He has also urged members of the public to remain calm, as the police will not condone such acts of unprofessionalism and illegality.
