Idah Peterside, the former Nigeria goalkeeper and South Africa-based pundit, has expressed his belief that the Super Falcons have the potential to reach the final of the ongoing Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand if they manage to defeat England in the round of 16. Peterside made these remarks while discussing the tournament on a sports show on Kennis FM.

While acknowledging the formidable strength of the English team, Peterside asserted that a victory against them could propel Nigeria to the final. He cited the example of South Africa’s surprising 3-2 win over Italy as evidence that anything can happen in football.

Peterside also emphasized the significance of both Nigeria and South Africa progressing to the round of 16, considering it is the second consecutive time that two African countries have achieved this feat in the Women’s World Cup. He praised the performances of the teams and lauded the growth and excitement surrounding women’s football.

Nigeria is scheduled to face England in Brisbane on Monday, while South Africa will take on The Netherlands on Sunday.
