Chinwetalu Agu, the seasoned actor in Nollywood, has shared a story of how he declined a N10 million offer from wealthy business magnate Mike Adenuga to act in a movie. Agu revealed that during that time, he hadn’t even earned N1 million before. He stood his ground and requested N20 million instead.
Agu, a celebrated performer, recounted that Adenuga eventually relented and agreed to the N20 million demand after Agu threatened to withdraw from the project. This account was disclosed by Agu in a conversation with the well-known media figure Chude Jideonwo.
In Agu’s words, “Chief Mike Adenuga made an offer of N10 million. I had never seen N1 million before, and yet he was offering N10 million. But I declined, stating that unless it’s N20 million, I wouldn’t proceed.”
Agu continued, “We both held our positions firmly. To emphasize my seriousness, I feigned the intention to leave and return to Enugu. I suggested that if there was a flight available, they should book it for me, so I could leave quietly.”
The situation took a turn when Agu stood up, prompting Chief Mike Adenuga to instruct him to remain seated. The necessary documents were brought in for signing, and Agu affixed his signature. Agu managed this negotiation with a diplomatic demeanor, keeping his reaction to the significant sum of N20 million hidden. He concluded, “This marked the beginning of a victorious dance. I handled it in a diplomatic manner in the office. I didn’t want to reveal that N20 million meant a lot to me at that moment.”
