I make kumkum music, not afrobeats – Whitemoney

Whitemoney, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 6 and a singer, recently disclosed his music genre, which he calls “KumKum music.” Despite facing criticism for his music, he clarified that his style is not solely afrobeats; rather, he incorporates elements of highlife into his music.

During an appearance on The House Chronicles podcast, Whitemoney explained that his highlife genre is distinct and contemporary, and he refers to it as “KumKum music.” He emphasized that his highlife is not the traditional type but a more modern and versatile version that can be enjoyed across various music genres. It is a highlife fusion that can be appreciated in clubs and bars, appealing to a wide audience.

Whitemoney further revealed that his upcoming production is unique and different from the usual highlife, as he added certain elements to make it more dynamic and enjoyable. The goal was to create a sound that allows him to showcase his vocal ability comfortably, as he does not possess a tenor voice. The result is “KumKum music,” a genre that suits his style perfectly and provides room for him to showcase his talent and creativity.
