“I can’t say right now”- Super Falcons player unsure of her future with Waldrum’s troops

Nigeria’s Super Falcons forward, Ngozi Okobi, has expressed her disappointment at being left out of Coach Waldrum’s FIFA World Cup squad and is uncertain about her future with the national team, according to a report from Soccernet.ng.

The twenty-nine-year-old versatile player, who is known for her role in the number ten position, discussed her shock and emotional reaction to being excluded from the team’s roster for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia.

Having been a part of the national team since the Under 17 level, Okobi was deeply affected by her omission from the tournament. She found the way the news was delivered to be disrespectful, as it had not been handled that way in the past. She mentioned that her husband provided support during this challenging time.

Reflecting on her absence during the opening match against Canada and her presence in the subsequent match against Australia, Okobi expressed her emotions and shared her observations with her teammates, especially younger players who looked up to her for advice.

Regarding the team’s performance, Okobi believed that the Super Falcons could have benefited from additional attacking options, especially during the round of sixteen tie in Brisbane.
