Here is why Iyabo Ojo does not like to grant interviews

The actress made this statement during her conversation with Toke Makinwa on her latest podcast episode. She emphasized that this podcast appearance marked her very first, as she had declined previous requests.

Ojo explained her stance by pointing to past experiences where her remarks during interviews were often taken out of context or misconstrued, resulting in significant negative impacts on her.

She elaborated, saying, “I have declined numerous interview requests because my controversies started when I gave many interviews in the past, and my words were often twisted or misrepresented. It had a profound impact on me. So, because of that, I tend to avoid giving interviews. Many times, you say one thing, and the blogs publish something entirely different, and you find yourself saying, ‘That’s not what I meant.’ But how many people can you keep explaining yourself to?”

Furthermore, Ojo expressed a preference for sharing her own stories on her personal or social media platforms to prevent misunderstandings. She conveyed her discomfort with how certain blogs manipulate her interview statements to fit a particular narrative, which ultimately led her to stop granting interviews.

“I prefer to narrate my stories in my own way, exactly as I want them to be told. People can get my perspective directly from my page or how I’ve chosen to share my story. That way, I know it’s coming directly from me. The blogs often mislead people, and that was discouraging for me. I couldn’t continue with it,” she added.

The actress also noted that her busy schedule, with numerous commitments and engagements, is another reason why she doesn’t grant interviews.
