According to reports, a police station in Ikem, Enugu State, known as Isi-Uzo Divisional police station, was attacked by hoodlums. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, during which the attackers allegedly stole arms and ammunition.

The hoodlums arrived at the police station around 2 a.m. in a minibus, and during the attack, they reportedly shouted slogans like “Release Nnamdi Kanu” and “No Nnamdi Kanu, no peace.” The attack lasted for about 30 minutes, with sporadic gunshots being fired.

Although a policeman on duty at the station was shot, the officer survived the attack. The police station had previously been targeted by armed robbers, resulting in the closure of banks in the area for over a decade. Nkem divisional police station is the sole station in the entire Isi-Uzo Local Government Area, with the closest one situated at Obollo-Afor, about 30 kilometers away.

The authorities have begun an investigation into the attack, and they suspect that the assailants might have come from Benue State. Efforts to reach the police spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.
