Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has urged the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Amotekun Corps to collaborate in their security efforts to secure the release of the abducted State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Paul Omotoso, and two others who were taken captive. The abduction of Omotoso was reported by SaharaReporters, stating that gunmen seized him while he was driving along Agbado Ekiti-Imesi Ekiti Road.
The APC State Publicity Secretary, Segun Dipe, had provided details of the incident, explaining that the chairman was driving his car along the Agbaso-Imesi Road when the attack occurred. According to Dipe, the gunmen fired at one of the car’s tires, after which they took Omotoso into a Toyota Hilux van and fled. The chairman was alone in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Governor Oyebanji emphasized that it was crucial not only to rescue the APC chairman unharmed but also to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure they face the full consequences of the law. Represented by his Deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, the governor issued the directive during a visit to Omotoso’s family in Imesi Ekiti, Ayekire Local Government Area of the state, to express his sympathies.
The governor further assured that the state forest reserves, spanning from Agbado-Imesi-Ise, would be revitalized and utilized to eliminate those using the area as a hideout.
