Siminalayi Fubara, the Governor of Rivers State, has issued a stern warning to school principals who associate with cultists in the state. He declared that any principal caught involved in cult activities would face immediate dismissal.
Governor Fubara made this statement two days after he expressed his determination to take action against any traditional ruler who supports cultism, following the killing of a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bako Angbashim, by cultists in the state.
During the commissioning of the renovated Government Comprehensive Secondary School in Borikiri, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, Governor Fubara emphasized that schools are meant for quality education and not as breeding grounds for cultism.
He asserted, “Let me say it here, it should be a policy. Any principal found to be associated with cultism will be dismissed from service,” making his position clear.
Governor Fubara described the newly remodeled school facility as world-class, believing it would foster a conducive learning environment and bring joy to students. He also expressed the importance of motivating teachers to give their best.
He acknowledged that the project was initiated by his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, but he ensured its completion using taxpayers’ funds for the benefit of the state’s residents. Governor Fubara called on school authorities to prioritize the security of the facility and encouraged students to focus on their studies to excel in their careers.
