Exclusive: Rufai warns Eagles to shift focus from South Africa and Benin and concentrate on Zimbabwe, Lesotho, and Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has cautioned the Super Eagles against focusing solely on South Africa and Benin while neglecting other teams in their group during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Asides from their matches against South Africa and Benin, the three-time Africa Cup of Nations champions will also face Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho in Group C.
Speaking to Completesports.com, Rufai advised the Super Eagles to approach every game as if it were a cup final.
“In my opinion, this is a challenging group because it won’t be easy to face teams like Rwanda, South Africa, Benin, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe,” Rufai stated.
He stressed that the Super Eagles should not underestimate Rwanda, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho if they genuinely aspire to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. Rufai emphasized the need for utmost respect towards every team and emphasized the importance of approaching each game with a cup final mindset.
