Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has offered automatic employment in the state’s public service to Aminat Yusuf, a first-class law graduate from Lagos State University (LASU) who hails from Edo State. Yusuf achieved a record-setting 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average in the Law Degree Programme at LASU.

The offer from the governor was conveyed by the Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., who stated that they had not only congratulated Yusuf but also offered her immediate employment. He further mentioned that they had reached out to her parents and they had accepted the employment offer.

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu, had earlier hosted Aminat and her parents in his office, praising her as a role model for young Nigerians who have shown their desire to make a positive change in the country. Shaibu emphasized the need for more role models in the Nigerian system and acknowledged that young people are ready to take control of their destiny.

Representing the Dean of the Law Faculty at LASU, Professor Kareem Olatoye, lecturer Obadan Abudu commended Aminat for her hard work and dedication to studying, noting that she was often seen in the library.

Aminat’s father, Ibrahim Yusuf, expressed gratitude to the state government for the employment offer and also advocated for the reinstatement of bursary support for Edo students studying across the country. He highlighted the challenges they faced in supporting Aminat’s pursuit of a Law degree and believed that reintroducing the bursary scheme would greatly benefit students.

In response, Aminat expressed her pride in being from Edo State and her commitment to giving back to her state. She spoke about her passion for studying law and how witnessing the increasing opportunities available to women compared to previous generations inspired her to excel. Aminat credited her achievements to God’s support, her parents, and her determination to exceed her own expectations. She expressed her desire to go as far as her imagination can take her and emphasized her dedication to the development of her state.
