Tracka, a user-driven platform dedicated to monitoring government projects and ensuring service delivery, has publicly criticized Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, for the poor condition of inner roads in Lagos.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Tracka highlighted the deteriorated state of the roads. Despite Lagos State being known as the ‘Centre of Excellence,’ residents are burdened with dilapidated roads that have made their lives unbearable. The platform reminded Governor Sanwo-Olu of his promise to provide a better and more convenient life for Lagosians during his second term.
Accompanied by a thread of visual evidence, Tracka showcased several roads across various local government areas in Lagos that have caught their attention due to their poor condition. Many residents living in these neighborhoods also took to social media to confirm Tracka’s observations.
One resident, Lucky Ogiebo (@Logiebo1), expressed sadness about driving around Alimosho, stating that the poor road conditions have negatively impacted their vehicle. Another resident, Adekunle Michael (@adekunlemichael), pointed out the irony of Alimosho, a stronghold of support for the ruling party, experiencing such neglect with no proper roads in place.
Similarly, a user named SUBZEROi NG (@Subzero721) tweeted about the dire state of Festac, describing it as an almost failed estate where nothing seems to work. FTRA (presumably Festac Town Residents Association) keeps holding meetings, but responsibility for the situation remains uncertain.
Another user, Jaydon (@Jaydon225), complained about severe traffic congestion caused by a deteriorated road, which now takes over 45 minutes to cover a distance of less than 500 meters. Jaydon emphasized the terrible condition of Okota Road, with sections left unrepaired for months.
Adetunji Thomas (@tunjimas) directed his message to Governor Sanwo-Olu, sharing images of St. Finbarrs’ College Road in Akoka, which requires the community to contribute funds for rubble to fill the road. Thomas expressed disappointment and labeled it a shame.
The concerns raised by Tracka and residents on social media highlight the urgent need for immediate action to address the crumbling road infrastructure in Lagos. The public is eagerly awaiting a response from Governor Sanwo-Olu to fulfill his re-election campaign promise of “Lagos is Rising,” with a focus on improving the lives of Lagosians and transforming the state’s road network.
