President Bola Tinubu and state governors expressed assurance to Nigerians that the current economic hardships they are facing will soon be replaced by prosperity. They emphasized that these difficulties are necessary and the sacrifices made by the people will pave the way for abundance and a better future for the country. Tinubu and the governors made separate statements during the Sallah celebrations across the country. Tinubu, speaking in Lagos after observing the Eid prayers, described the current economic hardships as bearable burdens, stating that Allah would not burden anyone beyond their capacity.

He called upon Nigerians to have faith in God and the country, and to unite regardless of religious or tribal differences. Tinubu also prayed for the Nigerian troops fighting insurgency, expressing his desire to see them emerge victorious. The governors and religious leaders also called for peace and economic prosperity, urging people to be law-abiding, security-conscious, and to embrace unity and prayers.

The opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), lamented the hardships faced by Nigerians under the current government, while the Presidency criticized the PDP and stated that the achievements of the APC government led by Tinubu have caused envy. Governors from different states, including Kogi, Taraba, Katsina, Rivers, Bayelsa, and Kano, extended their greetings to the Muslim faithful and called for unity, love, and sacrifice for the development and advancement of the nation. The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) also commended Muslims for their commitment to Islam and emphasized the importance of selflessness and generosity during the festival. The TY Buratai Foundation and the JNI urged sustained prayers for the success of President Bola Tinubu’s administration and called on Nigerian leaders to address the deteriorating conditions faced by the average citizen by implementing policies that improve their lives.
