BREAKING: Nigerian Scheme, NYSC Moves Orientation Camp From Mangu In Plateau State Over Killings, Crisis

  • Post category:Insecurity

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has issued a statement requesting prospective corps members assigned to Plateau State not to report to the Orientation Camp in Mangu Local Government Area. Instead, the NYSC has changed the location to Waye Foundation By Buken Academy in Doi-Du, Jos South Local Government Area of the state. This decision comes amid the ongoing crisis and killings in Plateau State, particularly in Mangu, where clashes between locals and armed militias have occurred, with security agencies struggling to address the situation.

Just recently, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) reported that 15 people were killed and 78 houses belonging to their members were burnt in alleged invasions of their communities in Mangu Local Government Area. Additionally, over 2,000 cattle are said to be missing as a result of the attacks.

In light of these security concerns, the NYSC has officially informed the public, particularly the prospective corps members, about the change in venue for the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream One Orientation Camp in Plateau State. The new temporary camp, Waye Foundation by Buken Academy in Jos South Local Government Area, will now be the designated location for the orientation program. All prospective corps members are expected to report to the new camp as indicated in their call-up letters, according to Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for NYSC.
