Organizers of the YUCATECO Boxing League have announced that the first-place winner in the inaugural championship will receive a prize of N20 million.

Omole Imadu, the Chairman of YUCATECO Boxing Promotions, revealed that in addition to the grand prize of N20 million for the winner, other participating boxers will also have the opportunity to earn substantial rewards throughout the YBL competition.

Each champion in their respective weight categories will be awarded N300,000, while the second-place finisher will receive N200,000, and the third-place will get N100,000 in cash prizes. Moreover, all other boxers will be eligible for consolation prizes based on their final rankings in the league. The event will also recognize the best referee, best coach, and the best boxer of the YUCATECO Boxing League.

Imadu emphasized that the main goal is to establish boxing as a premier sport in Nigeria and Africa, with a focus on moving away from the notion of boxing as a pastime for the underprivileged.

“Boxing is a highly significant sport that can positively impact Nigeria’s image internationally, and that is our objective with the league,” Imadu stated. “Every participant in the YBL will be generously rewarded, and we aim to make the league even bigger and better with each passing season.”

The YUCATECO Boxing League Seminar is now scheduled to take place on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the OLD SKOOL Hall, Brai Ayonate Boxing Complex, National Stadium, Lagos.

Key highlights of the seminar will include the formal presentation of clubs and boxers to the media, live draws and byes for the league, and a media discussion.

The YUCATECO Boxing League is set to commence on November 6 and will run for 12 consecutive weeks, with special events planned during the festive periods.
