Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina is delighted to have been selected as the club’s Player of the Month for September, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra. The 26-year-old, who has made a strong start since joining Forest from Torino on a free transfer last summer, secured 40 percent of the total votes cast on the club’s official website.

In response to receiving the award, Aina expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support in a post on his Instagram story. He acknowledged their role in his achievement, saying, “Thanking the fans for their support. I did a thing, thank you for the support.”

Aina, who succeeded fellow Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi as the recipient of the award for August, featured in three matches for Nottingham Forest during the month of September. He played a key role in helping Steve Cooper’s team secure four points out of a possible nine. Aina notably stood out in Forest’s 1-0 victory against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and their 1-1 draw at the City Ground against Burnley. He was also part of the squad during their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

However, it remains uncertain whether Aina will be available for Forest’s upcoming match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in London on Saturday. The Nigeria international, who has been included in the Super Eagles’ squad for friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in Portugal this month, missed the Premier League game against Brentford on Sunday due to a muscle injury, according to coach Steve Cooper.
