“In the near future, we will be assigning them to responsible roles. Some of them will be stationed as officers in many of the villages that are plagued by banditry,” stated Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State. He delivered this message on Monday while addressing the recently promoted officers in the state. He urged them to put in significant effort and remain prepared to confront criminals, especially bandits, across the state. This initiative is aimed at countering the resurgence of insurgency in the key local government areas of the state.

These 161 officers, who were promoted from the rank of Police Inspectors to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) at the Katsina Command Headquarters, were recognized during the event. Commissioner Musa advised them to abstain from engaging in bribery, encouraging them to diligently fulfill their duties and avoid mistreating citizens.

“The police service commission has elevated a total of 161 police inspectors based on the recommendation of the acting inspector general of police. We have instructed them to exhibit diligence and readiness in dealing with bandits and other criminal elements within their assigned divisions,” explained Musa.

He further stated, “In the near future, we will be deploying them to roles of responsibility. Some of them will be designated as station officers in many of the villages that are grappling with banditry.”

Upon assuming his role at the command, Musa emphasized the importance of avoiding corrupt practices such as bribery. He highlighted the necessity for the officers to perform their duties efficiently without engaging in dishonest behavior toward the citizens they serve. Musa made it clear that anyone found guilty of misconduct would face severe consequences.

Furthermore, Musa advised the families of the recently promoted officers not to have excessively high expectations, as many of them would be retiring from the police service within a few years.
