Aviation CEOs gather in Lagos to discuss the evolving dynamics in the industry.

The forthcoming 27th edition of the annual conference of the League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) in Lagos later this month will feature Chief Executive Officers of major aviation agencies and organizations as panelists. The theme of the conference is “Aviation Industry: Changing Times, Changing Strategies.”

Musa Nuhu, the Director-General of the Civil Aviation Authority (DGCA), is expected to deliver the keynote address, while two other CEOs will present papers at the conference.

Prominent dignitaries participating in this year’s conference include Taiwo Afolabi, Chairman of SIFAX Group of Companies; Mansur Matazu, Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET); Emmanuel Meribole, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Aviation; Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines; Alkali Madibbo, Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria; John Ojikutu, CEO of Centurion Aviation Services Ltd; Ikechi Uko, Publisher of Travellers Weekend, and other key stakeholders.

The conference is expected to attract more than 250 aviation industry professionals from aviation parastatals, security agencies, international and domestic airlines operating in Nigeria, aviation support services, and travel trade sellers and buyers in the country’s aviation industry.

According to a joint statement by Chinedu Eze and Albinus Chiedu, Chairman and Secretary of the LAAC Conference Committee respectively, this year’s conference was organized to address the emerging changes in aviation business, including technology, airline management and operations, financing, and other aspects of the industry.

The program will feature key presentations from Engr. Akin Olateru, the Director-General of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB), and Capt. Roland Iyayi, the CEO of TopBrass Aviation. Additionally, a panel session will be held to discuss issues affecting the sector in line with the conference theme.

The conference will provide both physical and virtual participation options to accommodate stakeholders from around the world. The event also includes the LAAC Awards of Excellence, where individuals and organizations that have excelled in the industry will be honored.

LAAC serves as Nigeria’s aviation media umbrella body, responsible for ensuring effective media coverage and practice in the aviation industry. Over the years, the LAAC annual conference has made a significant impact on Nigeria’s aviation sector by facilitating discussions on policy, management, and operational issues, resulting in substantial changes within the industry.
