“Amid a ministerial controversy surrounding national security concerns, the former Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, was noticeably absent from his son Bello’s wedding in Abuja on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Bello, who serves as the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking Regulations, married his second wife, Aisha Habibu Shuaibu, in a private Nikah ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Col. Habibu Shuaibu, a former Military Administrator for Plateau and Niger States.”

K”Uba Sani, the current Kaduna State governor, for whom Bello once worked as a legislative aide during the governor’s time as a senator, stepped in as the honorary father at the event, as reported by Daily Trust. This development coincides with news that the former governor had departed the country following his withdrawal from the ministerial candidacy.

In the recent ministerial appointments by President Bola Tinubu, 45 out of the 48 nominees were confirmed by the Senate on Monday, August 7, 2023. However, El-Rufai and two others, Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Abubakar (Taraba), had their confirmations withheld pending security clearance, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s explanation.

Meanwhile, after a meeting with Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, the former governor left for Europe, as sources reported. There are also rumors that El-Rufai suggested an alternative candidate from Kaduna for the ministerial position, although the presidency has not commented on this matter.”
