Adesua Etomi-Wellington, a renowned actress in Nollywood, openly conveyed her emotional response upon discovering her husband Bankole Wellington’s, also known as Banky W, aspirations to enter the political arena.
Banky W announced his political intentions on November 11, 2018, when he declared his candidacy for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat under the Modern Democratic Party.
Regrettably, in the election held on February 23, 2019, he faced defeat by Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress for the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency.
In the subsequent 2023 elections, Banky W contested for the same seat, this time representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but experienced disappointment as he lost to Attah Thaddeus of the Labour Party (LP).
During an interview on Hip TV, Adesua openly shared her initial concerns and uneasiness upon learning about Banky’s political aspirations.
However, she affirmed her decision to support him, emphasizing her belief in the primacy of purpose over fear.
In Adesua’s own words, she expressed, “When Banky revealed his desire to engage in politics, I felt a mixture of worry and disturbance. Nonetheless, I firmly believe that purpose holds greater importance than fear. I am committed to witnessing him fulfill his purpose, and therefore, he has my steadfast support.”
