During a press conference in Kaduna, The Confederation of All APC Support Groups, an APC support group, asserted that only God has the power to unseat President Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s President. The press briefing was organized in response to criticism of the last presidential election by Cardinal John Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Abuja.
The group’s Director-General, Muhammad Kialani, expressed displeasure at Onaiyekan’s remarks, demanding the cleric’s arrest for allegedly attempting to destabilize the country. Kialani called on Nigerians to disregard the Christian leader’s statements, emphasizing that the election had taken place, and Nigerians had spoken. The group condemned the Archbishop’s comments, particularly for seemingly castigating Tinubu despite both being of Yoruba descent.
Kialani mentioned that Tinubu had support from various Yoruba figures and groups during the election, and the majority had voted for him. The support group firmly believes that only divine intervention can remove Tinubu from his position and urges the public not to support the Archbishop’s views. In conclusion, the group invited Onaiyekan to participate in politics rather than making divisive statements from the pulpit. They asserted their vigilance in monitoring the situation.
