Volleyball: CNS Spikers, Olalomi win Nat Div 1 League

The 2023 National Division 1 Volleyball League champions have been crowned in both the men and women categories, with Chief of Naval Staff Spikers winning the men’s competition and Olalomi Royal Spikers emerging victorious in the women’s division.

CNS Spikers secured their championship by defeating Nigeria Correctional Service 3-0 (with set scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-17) in the final match. They maintained a perfect winning record throughout the men’s tournament.

Olalomi Royal Spikers claimed the women’s title with a hard-fought victory against Nigeria Air Force, winning 3-2 (set scores of 19-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-21, 15-13) in the final match.

In the men’s National Division 1 League, CNS Spikers finished in the top spot with 24 points, followed by Nigeria Correctional Service in second place with 18 points. Kwara United surprisingly secured the third position with 7 points, while UCEM of Enugu and G-Ranks Spikers placed fourth and fifth with 7 and 4 points, respectively.

In the women’s Division 1 League, Olalomi Royal Spikers claimed the first position with 8 points, and Nigeria Air Force Rocket finished as runners-up with 3 points.

As a result of their performances, two men’s teams (CNS Spikers and Nigeria Correctional Service) and two women’s teams (Olalomi Royal Spikers) have earned promotion to next year’s Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

Additionally, Life Camp VC emerged as the winners of the 2023 National Division 2 League and will be promoted to next year’s National Division 1 League. They maintained an unbeaten record during the second phase of the tournament and secured the first position with 48 points. Sword VC of Makurdi finished in second place with 41 points, while Nigeria Air Force Rockets took the third position with 32 points. Oluyole Spikers of Oyo state, Safety Spikers, Adamawa Spikers, Ajase Ipo, and Olalomi Royal Spikers occupied the subsequent positions in the league standings.
