Come to EPL, join Chelsea, Mikel tells Osimhen

According to a report from PUNCH Sports Extra, Mikel Obi, the former captain of the Super Eagles, has suggested to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen that he should consider joining Chelsea over his childhood club, Manchester United.
Mikel, a member of the Eagles squad that secured their third Africa Cup of Nations title in South Africa in 2013, expressed this advice on the latest episode of The Obi One podcast. The former Chelsea star believes that Osimhen would thrive as a player if he were to make a move to Chelsea in the upcoming summer.
Osimhen garnered attention from various European clubs over the summer, following his impressive performance with 26 goals in 32 league games, which helped Napoli secure their first Serie A title in 33 years. Clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly showed interest. However, Napoli’s substantial financial demands led to Osimhen remaining with the Italian club.
Although it was believed that the striker, whose contract runs until June 2025, was close to agreeing on a new deal with Napoli, negotiations hit a snag due to issues related to the player’s salary demands, a potential release clause, and a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. Additionally, Osimhen’s recent TikTok dispute with the club has cast uncertainty over his future with Napoli.
Mikel commented, “I believe he (Osimhen) would seamlessly adapt to the Premier League. He possesses the qualities to succeed in England. A few years ago, I might have had doubts, but after watching his performance last season and this season, I am certain he would fit well in the Premier League. He would score goals, make runs behind defenders, and stretch the opposing team. This is precisely what many Premier League teams are seeking in a striker – one who can make those runs behind defenders to create open spaces and chances. I hope he joins Chelsea, even though I’ve heard he’s a big fan of Manchester United. But personally, I hope he opts for Chelsea.”
Osimhen has scored six goals and provided one assist in 10 games so far this season.
